Gianfranco Vento is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the financial sector, particularly in financial innovation and banking turnaround. Vento has made significant contributions to the industry with over 20 years of expertise in consultancy, research, and training courses in banking, finance, and microfinance.

Before assuming his previous role as CEO of Cassa di Risparmio di San Marino, the largest commercial bank in the Republic of San Marino, he served as a Professor of Banking & Finance at Regent’s University London (UK). During his tenure, he also held the position of Director of the Centre for Banking and Finance and was a member of the Academic Senate.

Vento’s professional journey began as a senior financial analyst at the Bank of Italy, where he gained valuable insights into financial regulation, risk management, and governance. This experience laid the groundwork for his subsequent roles in academia and consultancy.

Throughout his career, Vento has been actively involved in advising central banks, financial institutions, and international organizations on matters related to risk management, financial regulation, and governance. He has also served on the boards of directors and boards of statutory auditors for various banks and financial institutions.

In addition to his practical experience, Prof. Gianfranco Vento is a published author, with four books to his name, two of which have been published by Palgrave Macmillan. He has also shared his knowledge through teaching engagements at universities, training centers, and banks in several countries, including Italy, Argentina, Nigeria, Rwanda, Spain, Serbia, Tanzania, and Tunisia.

He is a member of the scientific board of the Italian Permanent Committee for Microcredit, a government body dedicated to promoting microfinance in Italy, reflecting his dedication to financial inclusion and social impact.
